Lomé's airport is a hub first and a destination second: many of the people walking through it are changing between ASKY and Ethiopian flights and never need Togolese data at all. For those who do leave the terminal, Moov Africa sells a kit only at its airport agency, 6 GB with 100 local minutes for thirty days at 5,000 CFA francs, which is fairly priced rather than an airport rip-off. The weak point is not the price but the clock, because we could not confirm the agency's hours and much of LFW's traffic lands in the evening. An eSIM installed during your connection in Addis Ababa, Paris or Casablanca puts you on the same Moov network with no counter involved, and lets you book a Gozem ride into the city from the arrivals hall.

A 2016 Terminal Built Around Connecting Flights
Lomé's airport carries three names, and you will meet all of them. Officially it is the Aéroport International Gnassingbé Eyadéma, after the president who ruled Togo from 1967 to 2005; airlines and booking sites often call it Lomé-Tokoin, after the district north of the city centre where it sits; and its code is LFW. The current terminal opened in early 2016, designed for up to two million passengers a year, far more than the city alone generates, and it sits beside a single 3,000 metre runway.
The oversized terminal makes sense once you see who uses it. Lomé is the hub of ASKY Airlines, the pan-African carrier in which Ethiopian Airlines is the strategic partner, and ASKY runs a network of around 35 destinations from here, from Abidjan, Dakar and Bamako to Lagos, Libreville, Yaoundé and Nairobi. Ethiopian itself uses Lomé as a West African hub, with flights from Addis Ababa that continue across the Atlantic to Newark and Washington Dulles. Air France flies in from Paris and Royal Air Maroc from Casablanca. On a typical evening a large share of the people in the building never leave it: they are changing from one ASKY or Ethiopian flight to another.
Transit or arrival changes the phone question
If you are connecting airside, you never reach the arrivals hall, the operator agency or the taxi rank, and you do not need Togolese data at all. If Lomé is your destination, or your connection is long enough that you are leaving the airport for a hotel night, you go through immigration and out into the landside hall, and that is where the choices on this page begin. Togo has moved visitors toward an online eVisa, and current sources disagree about whether visas are still issued on arrival, so check the official portal before you plan a night landside.
Moov's Terminal Agency and the Kit It Sells
The product designed for arriving passengers belongs to Moov Africa Togo. Its website describes a Kit Aéroport sold only at its agency at the airport, in two sizes: the Kit Or at 5,000 CFA francs with 6 GB of data, 100 minutes to all local networks, 5 international minutes and 500 CFA of credit, and the Kit Diamant at 10,000 CFA with 15 GB, 240 local minutes, 10 international minutes and 1,000 CFA of credit. Both last thirty days. Unusually, these are not inflated airport prices; the data allowance is in line with Moov's ordinary bundles in town, and the minutes are thrown in.
Buying the kit at LFW, in order
1. Clear immigration, collect bags and pass customs. There is nothing for phones airside.
2. Find the Moov agency in the landside area and check it is staffed.
3. Hand over your original passport. Under Togo's Decree 2024-071 the agent must see you in person and take your photograph.
4. Choose Or or Diamant and pay in CFA francs. Change or withdraw money first if you arrived without any.
5. Before walking away, check the balance with *101*13# and open a map to confirm data is flowing.
Two caveats. We could not confirm the agency's opening hours, and several of the busiest arrival waves at LFW are in the evening, when Ethiopian and ASKY banks land close together. We also could not confirm whether Yas, the larger operator that used to trade as Togocom, runs its own counter in the terminal; we found no current source either way. If you need a Yas line, the agencies in central Lomé are the reliable option the next morning.
Terminal WiFi, and Where to Install Before You Fly
Some airport listings mention free WiFi in the terminal, but we could not confirm a current network name or how the login works, and recent traveller reports are too thin to rely on. Treat it as something that may help you send a message to your driver rather than a connection for downloading anything.
Use the hub you came through
Almost nobody reaches Lomé on a direct long-haul flight from their home city. Passengers from Europe and North America usually connect through Addis Ababa Bole, Paris Charles de Gaulle or Casablanca, and those from the rest of Africa through an ASKY or Ethiopian bank. Every one of those airports has a more dependable connection than an arrivals hall in Lomé at nine at night. Install the eSIM profile there, make sure data roaming is allowed on it, and leave it set as the data line so it attaches to Moov as soon as the aircraft reaches the stand.
One detail specific to Togo: both travel eSIMs, Airalo and Nomad, connect to Moov, the same network as the airport kit. Whichever you choose, the signal you get walking out of the terminal is Moov's, and it is strong across the Tokoin district and the road into the centre.
Tokoin to the Centre: Taxis, Zemidjans and Gozem
The airport is close to the city, about six kilometres from the centre, and the drive to the hotels around the Boulevard du 13 Janvier, the Grand Marché or the beachfront takes 15 to 30 minutes depending on traffic.
| Option | How it works | Time | Typical price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Airport taxi | Unmetered, agree the fare first | 15 to 30 min | 3,000 to 7,000 CFA by day, more at night |
| Zemidjan (moto-taxi) | Hailed outside the airport area | 15 to 25 min | About 1,500 to 3,000 CFA, light luggage only |
| Gozem | App-booked car, moto or tricycle with the fare shown upfront | 15 to 30 min | Varies by vehicle; usually below the rank price |
| Hotel transfer | Booked ahead, fixed price | 15 to 30 min | Set by the hotel |
Gozem is the app to have. It launched in Lomé in 2018, and it lets you see a price before you get in, which is the opposite of the conversation at the taxi rank. One recent transport guide says ride-hail pickups are not available at the airport itself, so you may need to walk out to the main road to meet the driver, and a working data line in the hall is what lets you arrange that. If you take a rank taxi, settle the price in CFA francs before the bags go in the boot; meters are not used.
Heading straight north?
Some arrivals are not staying in Lomé at all and leave the next morning on the N1 to Atakpamé, Sokodé and Kara, about 420 kilometres north. If that is you, buy data that lasts the trip. The Moov kit's thirty days or a thirty-day eSIM will see you through; a three-day plan will not.
Airport Kit, Town Bundle or eSIM: The Numbers
Put side by side, at roughly 570 CFA francs to the US dollar:
| Where | What you get | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Moov Kit Or, LFW agency | 6 GB, 100 local minutes, 30 days | 5,000 CFA (about $8.80) |
| Moov Kit Diamant, LFW agency | 15 GB, 240 local minutes, 30 days | 10,000 CFA (about $17.50) |
| Yas Net5000, town agency | 8 GB, 30 days | 5,000 CFA (about $8.80) |
| Moov iZi Medium 2, town | 30 GB, 30 days | 9,000 CFA (about $15.80) |
| Airalo eSIM | 1 GB, 3 days, Moov | $9 |
| Airalo eSIM | 5 GB, 30 days, Moov | $34 |
| Nomad eSIM | 3 GB, 30 days, Moov | $25 |
The local options win on money, and at LFW they win even at the airport, which is not true in most of the region. An Airalo month costs nearly four times the Moov kit and includes no minutes. What the eSIM buys is certainty: it works the moment the aircraft stops, whether or not the agency is open, without a second passport check after immigration, and without having CFA francs in your pocket before you have found an ATM.
For a single night between ASKY flights, Airalo's 9 dollar gigabyte is enough. For a week or more, a common pattern is to land on a small eSIM and buy a local line in town once you are settled. Verified eSIM prices are in the Togo eSIM guide, local bundles and registration in the Togo SIM card guide, and the eSIM Finder will match a plan to your dates.
Settling It Before the Lomé Leg
The decision at LFW turns on when you land and whether you are staying, more than on the price of data.
Arriving with an eSIM already live
Picking up the Moov kit instead
If your itinerary is a long Lomé stay, there is a good argument for doing both: a small eSIM to cover the first evening, then the Moov kit or a Yas line once you are rested. If Lomé is only a stop on the way between ASKY flights, do not buy anything local at all.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does Moov sell at the airport, and is it a fair price?
Moov's website lists two airport kits sold only at its LFW agency: Kit Or at 5,000 CFA with 6 GB, 100 local minutes and 5 international minutes, and Kit Diamant at 10,000 CFA with 15 GB and 240 minutes, both valid thirty days. That is close to Moov's normal town pricing, so it is fair value. You need your passport and a photo at the counter.
I have a six-hour ASKY connection in Lomé. Should I buy anything?
Not if you stay airside, where there is nothing to buy and no need for local data. If you plan to leave the terminal, check your visa position first, then consider Airalo's 1 GB for 9 dollars, which runs on Moov and covers a Gozem ride and messages for three days without a stop at the counter.
What should a taxi from LFW to central Lomé cost?
Recent guides put a daytime airport taxi at roughly 3,000 to 7,000 CFA francs to the centre, about six kilometres away, with higher prices late at night. Taxis are unmetered, so agree the fare before loading bags. Gozem shows a fare upfront and is usually cheaper, though you may need to meet the driver beyond the terminal forecourt.
Can I rely on the terminal WiFi to download an eSIM after landing?
We would not. Some listings mention free terminal WiFi, but we could not confirm the current network name or how reliable it is. Download and install the eSIM during your connection at Addis Ababa, Paris or Casablanca, where the connection is dependable, and let it attach to Moov once you are on the ground.
Is there a Yas counter at Lomé airport?
We could not confirm one in October 2026. Moov is the operator that documents an airport product. Yas, formerly Togocom, is the larger network and the better companion for trips into the north, so if you want a Yas line, buy it at one of its agencies in central Lomé after arrival.
